The program given for May 2023 was given by Dr. Frank Howell, K4FMH on web-based SDR’s. Frank K4FMH has worked with software defined radios for some 15 years beginning with the venerable Perseus receiver. Web SDR’s are very useful if one has trouble hearing stations from your home QTH. He gave an overview on the major types of Web-SDRs available, how they work and used a hand-on show-and-tell for those on the websdr.org site and the kiwisdr.org site.
Below are some pictures of the presentation. Many of those in attendance expressed great interest in using the third-party CatSync software to harness remote Web-SDRs for their local receiver because of atmospheric noise and local RFI. A PDF of his presentation slides is available here.
