We were excited to have Ed Schilling, KK5ED present a program on radiosondes with emphasis on the deployment of weather balloons and the data that is received from these balloons by the National Weather Service. Ed informed us of the altitude these balloons travel to and the different measurements that are recorded each second of the balloon’s ascent and descent as well as the frequency that is used to transmit this data. Have you ever wondered what happens to these balloons when they return to earth and where they land? Check out tracker.sondehub.org. You might find one in your neck of the woods!

This was a great program! Ed did a superb job with a ham radio-relevant topic of Radiosondes.
Really enjoyed Ed’s presentation. This definitely has me curious about tracking weather balloons.
